Restoring Nature 2024
Our third rewilding literary festival at Lower Sharpham Farm
So, in a ‘pinch me’ moment, we held our third Restoring Nature festival, this Saturday, 18th May, with our good friends Ambios
It was another sell out and bought together people from all over the UK to listen to four brilliant authors presenting their books to an informed audience eager to learn more. Delicious locally sourced food, prepared by the amazing Kitchen Table, a fully licenced bar, music from the talented Colin Manson and Holly Ebony conducting her fabulous Wild Bird Singing session ensured there was plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy this beautiful space with friends new and old.
Our author line-up was on the theme of the reintroduction of long extinct mammals in the UK, the mammals that currently live here and how the natural world has been irrevocably shaped and altered since the first neolithic farmers began clearing land some 6,000 years ago.
Derek Gow, Hunt for the Shadow Wolf: The lost history of wolves in Britain and the myths and stories that surround them
Sophie Yeo, Nature’s Ghosts: The World We Lost and How to Bring it Back
Fiona Mathews and Tim Kendall, Black Ops & Beaver Bombing: Adventures with Britain's Wild Mammals
Chantal Lyons, Groundbreakers: The Return of Britain’s wild Boar
It was a perfect late Spring day and we’d like to thank everyone who made it so enjoyable.
We were just too busy to take a lot of photographs on the day: however, here’s a few to give you a snapshot. We look forward to seeing you in 2025!!
Author Signings
There were author signing sessions, and here is Sophie chatting about her book, Nature’s Ghosts after her talk
The talks were brilliant, raising questions from the audience and contributing to the end of day panel discussion. All helping sales to stay brisk at the pop-up East Gate Bookshop.
Fiona Mathews and Tim Kendal made a very entertaining act taking us on their journey through Britain and its mammals in Wild Ops & Beaver Bombing
We don’t think a sunset over the river Dart can be beaten
